Come on out for a day of Fun, Flies & Food! Metolius Bamboo Rod and Fly Fishing Fair: Saturday, July 21 and 22, 2007
The Sixth Annual Metolius Bamboo Rod and Fly Fishing Fair will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 22 form 10 a.m until 4ish. This years fair will be held on the grounds of Black Butte School in Camp Sherman. The two day event will be hosted by Roger and Kathy White of the Camp Sherman Store Visitors may talk with contemporary Northwest bamboo rod builders, view examples of their work, and have a rare opportunity to cast these wonderful rods. This is fast becoming a very user friendly show. Most shops (if they even have any bamboo rods) will have 3 or 4 rods. The chances of having them hand you the rod for a casting session are rare. The large number of rods at the show(approx 200) and the wide variety of sizes of rods (1# buggy whip up to 8# steelhead rods) gives the consumer an unheard of chance to find the rod that fits them just right. In addition, there are almost two dozen rod makers on hand. When have you had the chance to cast such a wide variety of rods made by such a wide variety of makers? To complete the hunt for that perfect rod, a person can cast 20-30 rods. Narrow down their choices to 3 or 4. Find the 1 or 2 that are just right, and either custom order their own rod or purchase the one in their hands right then and there (or at the end of the show). If you are looking for a bamboo rod, this is the place on the West Coast for you. Contact: Camp Sherman Store, (541) 595-6711 or email: roger@campshermanstore.com
