METOLIUS RIVER FLY FISHING AND BAMBOO ROD FAIR This event began as a showcase of contemporary Oregon based bamboo rod makers. Since its humble beginnings, it has quickly grown in size, popularity, and diversity. The main focus is still on bamboo rods, but now, there are more vendors in many other directions.
We have demonstrations, Example: how the pieces of bamboo are made and assembled
*Rod manufacturers both One man shop Bamboo and Larger Graphite Rod companies *Fly reel manufacturers *Fishing/wildlife artists *Conservation organizations and Fishing clubs *Fly tiers, and demonstrations *Collectors who conduct free appraisals of old and antique fly equipment *Authors in attendance who are glad to talk about their books, and fishing in general *Guest speakers and demonstrations on rod/reel equipment, bull trout tactics, and general Metolius River trout tactics. ·John Judy has led seminars regarding single handed spey tactics and techniques and is also an authority on Metolius bull trout fishing. ·Jens Lovtang, who is both an avid fly fisherman and a career marine biologist, has been on hand to tell of his research on the reintroduction of anadramous fish to the Metolius. This guy has had his face in the Metolius more and longer than almost anyone. ·The State of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife volunteers expert instructors available to give introductory fly fishing/casting lessons to everyone who shows up. These lessons are of course free.
